Vaginal Antifungal Ingredients: Miconazole & Tioconazole

Nature’s Cure pairs highly effective medicines, tioconazole and miconazole, with all-natural tablets to fight yeast infections 2-ways - treating the symptoms and getting to the source of the problem. Tioconazole and miconazole are both vaginal antifungals from the “azole” family that work to eliminate yeast and relieve symptoms by destroying yeast cell membranes. Nature’s Cure offers a line of yeast infection treatments that use either tioconazole or miconazole as the active antifungal ingredient. Each tioconazole and miconazole treatment is also sold with Nature’s Cure Yeast Infection Treatment Tablets to help restore a healthy balance. Tioconazole has been in use since 1983 as a prescription antifungal treatment and was approved by the FDA in 1997 to be sold over-the-counter. However, it is only available as a single dose, so all tioconazole yeast infection products are 1-Day treatments. Tioconazole is known to work against both Candida albicans and Candida glabrata, the two strains of yeast most common in vaginal yeast infections.

Miconazole is a broad spectrum antifungal that is used to treat a variety of skin conditions, in addition to yeast infections. First approved by the FDA in 1974 for prescription use, miconazole was later approved for use as an over-the-counter yeast infection treatment in 1991. Miconazole is available as an active ingredient in 1-day, 3-day and 7-day treatment lengths and can be found in many forms, including creams and suppositories. Combination packs offer a miconazole nitrate cream, in addition to the vaginal product, that can be used externally for fast itch relief.
